A Taste of Texas Roadhouse 텍사스 로드하우스 : The Story Behind the Brand
Texas Roadhouse was founded in 1993 in Clarksville, Indiana, by Kent Taylor. His vision was simple: to create a place where guests could enjoy hand-cut steaks, made-from-scratch sides, and a warm, inviting atmosphere—all inspired by the big flavors and friendly charm of Texas. Over the years, Texas Roadhouse grew from a local favorite into a global franchise with over 600 locations worldwide, known for its lively country music, hearty meals, and legendary hospitality.

Coming to Korea: American Vibes on Korean Soil
Texas Roadhouse opened its first location in Korea in 2021, quickly gaining popularity among locals and expats alike. With its wood-heavy decor, American country music playing in the background, and cowboy-themed uniforms, the restaurant offers an experience that’s as close to the U.S. as you can get—without the plane ticket.
For us, this restaurant feels like a little trip to the States every time we visit. In fact, just a few days ago, a friend of ours returned from a trip to the U.S. and shared a photo of a steak they enjoyed there. We were thrilled to realize it was from the same Texas Roadhouse chain! There’s something uniquely satisfying about enjoying the same flavors, right here in Korea.
Menu Favorites: Beyond Just Steaks
While the hand-cut steaks are definitely the stars of the show, the menu at Texas Roadhouse offers much more. Here are some of our favorite picks:
- Fresh-Baked Bread with Cinnamon Butter: Warm, fluffy, and served right after you’re seated. These rolls are seriously addictive.
- Bone-In Ribeye: Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly grilled to your preference.
- Country Fried Chicken: Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside—southern comfort on a plate.
- Bacon Cheeseburger: Juicy beef patty topped with smoky bacon and melted cheese. A must-try if you’re craving a classic American burger.
- Grilled BBQ Chicken: Tender, smoky, and slathered in tangy sauce.
- Sides: Don’t miss their mashed potatoes, seasoned rice, or baked sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows and brown sugar!
They also offer combo meals, salads, kids’ menus, and even seafood options, making it easy for everyone at the table to find something they love.

Atmosphere: Loud, Lively, and Full of Heart
Texas Roadhouse is not a quiet, romantic restaurant—but that’s part of its charm. Expect friendly staff who introduce themselves by name, loud country music playing overhead, and spontaneous birthday shout-outs. The energy is high, the portions are generous, and the service is always warm.
We often go there for casual date nights because it feels festive and fun. It’s the kind of place where you can laugh a little louder, eat a little more, and truly enjoy the moment.
Locations in Korea: Where to Go
Currently, Texas Roadhouse has locations in Seoul and surrounding cities, including:
- Jamsil Lotte World Mall (송파)
- Yeongdeungpo Times Square (영등포)
- Dongtan
- Daejeon
- Busan (Centum City)
Each location brings that signature American atmosphere, with consistent food quality and service. If you live near any of these areas, it’s absolutely worth checking out.
Final Thoughts: More Than Just a Meal
For us, Texas Roadhouse is more than just a place to eat—it’s an experience. It reminds us of our past travels, gives us a break from the ordinary, and brings us closer to American food culture. Whether you’re an expat missing home, a foodie exploring new cuisines, or just someone who loves a good steak, Texas Roadhouse delivers.
We may not be able to fly to Texas anytime soon, but this restaurant gives us a delicious taste of it right here in Korea.
